Master of Ceremonies: Chris Wells
CHRIS WELLS is an Obie award-winning writer, actor and community leader who makes performance, music and stories. He’s the founding artistic director of the much-lauded arts collective, The Secret City.
Acting: The Actors’ Gang, SITI Company, Baltimore Center Stage, Theater Offensive, Alabama Shakespeare, Cornerstone Theater, Yale Rep, Long Wharf, Cleveland Playhouse, Clubbed Thumb, HERE, San Jose Rep. In 2007, Wells was honored with The Charles Bowden Award from New Dramatists for his work in support of new play development.
In October 2007, Wells founded The Secret City, an organization that celebrates the arts and builds community around principals of shared humanity and creative mindfulness. With events in NYC, LA, Woodstock and beyond, Wells serves as curator, host, lead artist and producer, presenting an endless variety of artists in a setting dedicated to connecting artists to community and community to artists.
In 2010, Wells received a Special Citation Obie Award for creating The Secret City, for service to the artistic community of New York City.
Wells is completing a collection of stories written for The Secret City, entitled It Will All Work Out; the Off Off Broadway show by the same name premiered at Dixon Place in April, 2017.
